2015 Ford F-150 Engine
2015 Ford F-150 Engine - How much does the smaller engine save in price? We equipped our optioned-up 2.7 and 3.5 F-150s comparably, and the 2.7 version came in at $45,750—about $1,200 less. But it won’t cost you that much to get into that engine
The 2.7 isn’t the base engine in the F-150 lineup—that would be a non-turbo 3.5 V6. But it’s only a $795 price bump to opt for the wee turbo. Pricing starts at $27,040 with shipping for a base XL with the 2.7 turbo, rear-wheel drive, regular cab, and 6 ½-foot bed.

Choosing the 2.7 instead of the 3.5 turbo is not a bad trade-off in our book. A lower price and better performance is all to the good, so long as the lesser towing capacity is not an obstacle.
We’ll have lots more to report as we continue with our tests, including such key judgments as ride, handling, noise, comfort, towing performance, and so on, not to mention how the new F-150 compares overall with its direct competitors, the Chevy Silverado and the Ram 1500.

2016 Kia Sorento Redesign |
Don’t confuse the redesigned 2016 Kia Sorento with the outgoing 2015 model. Even as the new version trickles in, Kia dealers are offering screaming deals on leftover 2015s. (Tempting as they may be, do note that 2015 lost its CR recommended status due to poor performance in one of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's crash tests.) We just took delivery of a 2016 and as before, it straddles the small and midsized SUV categories, occupying a sweet spot in size and price. We opted for an EX V6 with all-wheel-drive with a third-row seat; it stickered at $37,915.
The 2016 Sorento shares a platform with its good-scoring corporate cousin the Hyundai Santa Fe, and like the SF, it’s built in Georgia. With a 109-inch wheelbase, the Sorento slots in between the Santa Fe Sport and three-row Santa Fe. The old Sorento’s 2.4-liter four-cylinder and 3.3-liter V6 engines carry over; a new 2.0-liter turbo has been added. Front- and all-wheel-drive versions are offered. The price starts at $24,900 and rises to over $40,000, allowing the Sorento to compete with both compact crossovers like the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 and with three-row, mid-sized SUVs such as the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander.
2016 Kia Sorento Price and Performance
2016 kia sorento price - These changes for 2016 go beyond greater interior and cargo room. In fact, those increases are rather negligible compared to the increases in interior and driving refinement.

2016 Kia Sorento Price |
Simply put, the 2016 Sorento is a higher-quality vehicle. Cabin materials give up little (if anything) to pricier competitors, feature content embodies the term "generous" and even the styling is more attractive inside and out. Mechanical improvements include a strengthened structure, upgraded suspension and improved steering, which together create a more substantial, comfortable and altogether more refined driving experience. A turbocharged four-cylinder engine also joins the lineup to be its own middle ground between the underpowered base four-cylinder and thirstier V6 engines.
Although we've only driven the 2016 Kia Sorento briefly, it doesn't take long to be impressed by it. This Kia is a strong, value-rich alternative to five-passenger crossovers like the Ford Edge, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport and Jeep Grand Cherokee, as well as seven-passenger models like the Hyundai Santa Fe and Toyota Highlander. It may still be stuck in the middle, but that's quite alright.
Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
The 2016 Kia Sorento is a midsize SUV available in five- and seven-passenger configurations as well as five trim levels: L, LX, EX, SX and SX Limited. Note that the L model and all Sorentos equipped with the midrange turbocharged engine are five-passenger only, while V6-powered Sorentos are seven-passenger only. The four-cylinder LX can be had with either seating configuration.
The base L comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED running lights, three-mode drive settings (altering steering and transmission shift points), air-conditioning, cruise control, stain-resistant fabric upholstery, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, 40/20/40-split second-row seats (fold, slide and recline), Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, a CD player, satellite radio, an auxiliary audio jack and a USB/iPod interface.
The LX adds automatic headlights, a sound-reducing windshield, roof rails, a rearview camera, Uvo eServices, a 4.3-inch touchscreen interface and two rapid-charge USB ports. The Convenience package adds rear parking sensors, an eight-way power driver seat (plus two-way power lumbar), heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and an auto-dimming mirror. The third-row seat can be added to the Convenience package.
The EX includes the Convenience package items and adds 18-inch wheels, sound-reducing front side glass, dual-zone automatic climate control and leather upholstery. Its Premium package adds a hands-free power liftgate, keyless ignition and entry, power-folding mirrors, blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning systems, second-row side sunshades and a display screen speedometer/trip computer. The Touring package can be added to the Premium package and includes a panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen interface, a navigation system, traffic reporting, a larger rearview camera display and a 10-speaker Infinity sound system with Clari-Fi digital music improvement technology.
The SX includes the Premium and Touring package equipment and adds upgraded steering, 19-inch wheels, LED taillights, upgraded exterior trim, a 10-way power driver seat (plus four-way power lumbar), driver memory settings, a fabric headliner and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
The SX Limited adds chrome-clad 19-inch wheels, upgraded leather upholstery, ventilated front seats and heated second-row outboard seats. The available Technology package adds xenon headlights, a multi-angle parking camera, an electronic parking brake, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure and forward collision warning systems.
Powertrains and Performance
Standard on the 2016 Kia Sorento L and LX trim levels is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. As with every Kia Sorento, a six-speed automatic and front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is optional. Kia's own estimated fuel economy is 25 mpg combined (22 city/29 highway) with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is estimated to be 1-2 mpg lower. Towing capacity is 2,000 pounds.
The EX and SX Limited are available with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 240 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Its Kia-estimated fuel economy is 23 mpg combined (20/27). Towing capacity is 3,500 pounds.
A 3.3-liter V6 engine is mandatory on the SX and available on the EX and SX Limited. It produces 290 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque. Kia estimates fuel economy at 21 mpg combined (18/26). Towing capacity is 3,500 pounds with front-wheel drive and 5,000 pounds with all-wheel drive.
2016 Kia Sorento Review
2016 Kia Sorento Review - Kia invited us up to Lake Tahoe to sample its new Sorento in what they feel is the CUV’s ideal playground. The Korean automaker envisions the Silicon Valley brigade hopping in their Kias for a trip across the flatlands and up the hill. You know, because ruining San Francisco wasn’t enough for them. And climbing gyms can’t contain them forever. Oh, Fredo Corleone, be thankful for your little boat trip. This isn’t something you’d want to witness.

At the end of its life cycle, the current Sorento still ranks third in Kia’s sales mix. The previous ute saw the Sorento move from a decent if slightly unrefined body-on-frame trucklet to a five-to-seven passenger unibody crossover. The new machine, on sale in January, sees Korea’s style leader attempt to cover a broader spread. A base-on-base 2.4-liter four-banger FWD model—called Sorento L—will only require a $25,795 tip of the coffer. Venture all the way up to the SX Limited V-6 AWD model and you’re going to need a substantially larger till: $43,995. (All-wheel drive is available for $1800 on every trim level except for the L.)

2016 Kia Sorento review |
Yet the sweetest piece of real estate in Sorentoville is the 2.0-liter turbo-four AWD model, which starts in EX trim at $31,995. Yes, the six offers up to 5000 pounds of towing capacity against the huffed four’s 3500, but most Sorentos aren’t likely to see much in the way of tugging duty and the turbo four offers a lot of useful midrange punch, plus a slight fuel-economy bonus. We previously knocked Hyundai for sticking this engine in a model badged as “Sport,” but it feels wholly appropriate in the Sorento. The six, ensconced in some sort of NVH-sapping igloo, exhibits a faraway thrashing sound as it piles on the revs on the way to making its maximum 290 horsepower. It’s definitely not the six-pot sweetheart that Toyota offers in the Highlander.
Kia increased the use of high-strength steel this time around, with the stated goal being a Teutonic grade of body stiffness. The brand came pretty close. On the road, the Sorento drives like a heavier—it is a larger vehicle, after all—more muted Volkswagen Tiguan. The Koreans have finally decided steering is worth their attention, and if the new ute’s tiller isn’t as feelsome as the best German jobs, it’s a definite improvement over the disconnected numbness historically associated with Hyundai-Kia products. The chassis is well damped and predictable, and it exhibited no evil traits on snowy mountain roads. The brakes were easily modulated, even on questionable surfaces, and the whole machine exuded fundamental competence.
Downsides? Heavy rain confused the blind-spot sensors to the point that they disabled themselves and threw up a warning that repeatedly obscured the in-dash multifunction display, no matter how many times we canceled it. The second-row folding mechanism doesn’t operate with any particular smoothness, the available panoramic sunroof can impinge on headroom for taller second-row occupants, and the third row is strictly a kid zone.
But this is a mission-perfect vehicle. Like much of SiliValley, it’s design-focused and not quite as impressive as the hype a problem endemic to the CUV class. Unlike San Mateo and Santa Clara counties, however, the Sorento offers real value for the money. If you’re looking to gentrify your driveway with a crossover, you’re not going to do much better than the Sorento in terms of financial outlay, style, quality, and capability.

2015 Hennessey Venom f5 |
The Texas-based company calls this evil on wheels the Venom F5.
Hennessey boss John Hennessey broke the news to Top Gear, gushing about the possibility of the Venom F5 hitting a top speed no other production car in the world has been able to attain. "I think something in the 290-mph range will be possible," Hennessey said.

2015 Hennessey Venom |
The man apparently didn’t misspeak when he said "290 mph," which is all the indication you need to know that Mr. Hennessey Hennessey has either lost his mind or he is determined to drive Bugatti insane with constant pressure from Texas. The Venom F5 name pretty much says it all. That "F5" nomenclature is a reference to the most powerful classification given to tornadoes, or in the case of the Venom, a destructive output of around 1,400 horsepower.
All these horses are reigned in by a single-clutch, paddle-shift transmission, not the Ricardo, six-speed manual found in the Venom GT. You can, however, opt for the manual, if you like.
Start quivering in your boots, Bugatti . It’s better to embrace the inevitable than continue fighting for your cause.

2014 Land Rover LR4 Review
2014 Land Rover LR4 Review - What's New for 2014
The biggest change to the 2014 Land Rover LR4 is a new powertrain featuring a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The LR4's previous V8 has been discontinued. There's also a revised four-wheel-drive system with a simpler single-speed transfer case (the traditional two-speed version is now optional). A Meridian audio system and a rearview camera are now standard as well, and a blind spot warning system has been added to the options list. You'll also notice slightly updated front-end styling.

2014 Land Rover LR4 |
Introduction
Though not as well known as some other top-tier luxury SUVs from Germany or Japan, the Land Rover LR4 has ranked highly in our book since its debut back in 2010. With a rich-looking interior, strong V8 power, available third-row seating and advanced off-road capability, the LR4 is a more utilitarian (and less expensive) companion to the flagship Range Rover. Now for 2014, this luxury SUV gets a number of significant revisions that bring it up to date without diminishing any of its desirable attributes.
The most noteworthy of those changes is underneath the LR4's hood. With an eye toward fuel economy, Land Rover has replaced the LR4's previous 5.0-liter V8 with a new 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine. The V6 isn't as powerful as the V8, but it still generates a respectable 340 horsepower and is paired with a new eight-speed automatic transmission (the V8 only had a six-speed). These changes boost the Land Rover LR4's fuel economy numbers, and they're now more comparable to similarly powered, four-wheel-drive luxury SUV competitors.
Given the reality that most LR4 owners rarely leave the pavement, the four-wheel-drive system now comes standard with a less elaborate single-speed transfer case and Land Rover's useful Terrain Response system. Thankfully, an off-road-friendly two-speed transfer case with low-range gearing remains optional for those buyers interested in putting the LR4's reputation as a go-anywhere expedition vehicle to the test. Other new features include an available blind spot monitoring system, a standard rearview camera and updated audio systems. As before, buyers can stick with the standard five-seat interior or add an optional third-row seat that bumps passenger capacity to seven.
While it's hard to find serious flaws with this updated LR4, shoppers who don't plan on leaving the pavement may want to have a look at competitors like the well-rounded Acura MDX, the sporty BMW X5 or the larger Mercedes-Benz GL-Class. The Lexus GX 460, meanwhile, comes closest to the LR4's off-road capability. All of these SUVs are solid candidates, but the 2014 Land Rover LR4 stacks up nicely in most respects. It's a smart, if often overlooked choice for a luxurious and capable seven-passenger SUV.
Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
The 2014 Land Rover LR4 is a midsize luxury SUV offered in a single trim level. Five-passenger seating is standard, but an optional third-row seat increases capacity to seven.
The list of standard features starts with 19-inch alloy wheels, an adaptive air suspension, foglights, rain-sensing wipers, heated exterior mirrors, a power front sunroof, rear privacy glass, rear parking sensors and keyless ignition and entry. Moving inside, you'll find dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, eight-way power front seats, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a rearview camera, a 7-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, and an 11-speaker Meridian audio system with a CD player, a USB/iPod interface and an auxiliary audio input jack.
The optional HSE package adds distinctive 19-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, front parking sensors, power-folding mirrors, a two-person third-row seat, rear-seat climate control and a navigation system with voice controls.
A stand-alone Climate Comfort option package bundles a heated windshield, heated windshield washer jets, heated front and second-row seats and a heated steering wheel.
The HSE Lux option package includes all the above plus upgraded leather upholstery and trim, a driver seat with power-adjustable side bolsters, driver memory settings, a power-adjustable steering wheel, interior ambient lighting, a center console cooler box and an upgraded 17-speaker Meridian surround-sound audio system.
Other stand-alone options include a Heavy-Duty package that includes the two-speed transfer case, a locking rear differential and a full-size spare tire. A Vision Assist package adds adaptive xenon headlights, automatic high-beam control, a 360-degree-view camera system and a blind spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert. A Black Design package consists of blacked-out exterior trim and black 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels.
Finally, 20-inch alloy wheels, unique interior trim, the third-row seat package, the 17-speaker premium Meridian surround-sound audio system, satellite radio and a rear-seat entertainment system can all be had separately.
Powertrains and Performance
Power for the 2014 Land Rover LR4 comes from a new 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine that produces 340 hp and 332 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Also standard is an auto stop-start function that shuts down the engine when you're stopped in traffic to save fuel. The EPA estimates fuel economy at 16 mpg combined (14 city/19 highway) -- not great numbers, but a definite improvement over last year's V8-powered LR4. Properly equipped, the LR4 can tow a healthy 7,700 pounds.
Full-time four-wheel drive is standard, but this year's revamped system features a simpler single-speed transfer case that's more efficient in everyday driving. If you plan to drive off-road, the traditional two-speed transfer case, which offers low-range gearing and a locking rear differential, is still available as part of the Heavy Duty option package.
With either setup, you get Land Rover's innovative Terrain Response system, which has a center-console-mounted knob that allows the driver to select from four standard settings (general, grass/gravel/snow, sand, and mud/ruts). Models equipped with the two-speed transfer case also get a fifth "rock crawl" setting. Each of these modes alters engine, transmission and suspension calibrations to allow the LR4 to tackle a wide variety of terrain. The LR4's electronically controlled air suspension also helps in this regard, with settings ranging from a lowered height that enables easy entry and exit to a fully raised position that maximizes ground clearance on particularly gnarly stretches of trail.
Safety
Standard safety features on the 2014 Land Rover LR4 include antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control (with rollover mitigation technology and trailer stability assist), hill-descent control, hill start assist, rear parking sensors and a rearview camera. Passive safety measures include front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags that extend to cover the third-row seat on models so equipped. A blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic alert system and a 360-degree parking camera are optional.
Interior Design and Special Features
The 2014 Land Rover LR4 offers a classy yet functional cabin with high-quality materials, including soft leather and genuine walnut wood trim. Large windows and a front sunroof with rear skylights combine to give the interior a spacious feel.
Those large expanses of glass also provide the driver with excellent outward visibility. Passengers get to enjoy the view as well, thanks to raised stadium-style rear seats. There's generous legroom up front and a decent supply in back, plus headroom galore thanks to the tall roof. Five-passenger models also offer plenty of room for cargo, with 42 cubic feet available behind the second-row seats and a generous 90 cubic feet with those seatbacks folded down. When the optional third-row seat is in use, however, you'll have just 10 cubic feet behind it to load up groceries.
The LR4's touchscreen and optional navigation system work adequately, but compared with the newer electronic interfaces found in various competitors, the setup is a little dated, with slower response times and less streamlined menu structures.

Driving Impressions
While those with a heavy right foot may lament the passing of last year's gutsy 5.0-liter V8, most 2014 Land Rover LR4 buyers won't miss it. That's because the combination of the new 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission delivers more than enough grunt to handle most situations on or off the pavement.
On the road, the adjustable air suspension offers a smooth ride and decent composure around turns despite the vehicle's considerable curb weight and relatively high center of gravity. As you might expect, the Land Rover LR4 really shines brightest after you've left the civilized world far behind, thanks to its sophisticated four-wheel-drive system. Equipped with the optional low-range transfer case and locking rear differential, this luxury SUV will handle the wilds of Namibia as easily as it does the parking lot at Nordstrom.
Land Rover R4 2015 Feature and Specification
Land Rover R4 2015 Review
After some major changes last year, the 2015 LR4 gets mostly incremental improvements for 2015: Side steps are now standard, while adaptive cruise control, a suite of smartphone apps and a wood-and-leather steering wheel are added to the options list.
Introduction
It seems like the premium SUV market is getting more crowded by the day, but probably no brand has more credibility than Land Rover for combining luxury with genuine ground-crunching capability. Even with the growing number of choices, the Land Rover LR4 has long been a very likable choice for a luxury SUV as it's equally capable of pulling off carpool duty, a night at the opera or climbing a snow-covered trail to that getaway cabin.
This pleasingly wide range of versatility is a result of its available three-row seating (that provides for up to seven adults), serious off-roading hardware and a powerful supercharged V6 that makes the LR4 at least a little more mindful of fuel consumption than previous V8-powered versions. The 2015 LR4 also continues to give up nothing as a pure luxury vehicle. The cabin shows off Land Rover's unmistakable design flair and is swathed in rich materials, while recent upgrades to its electronics made available some of the convenience and safety features expected in this price range.
As appealing as the LR4 is, however, it's important to ponder how much you really need its formidable off-road capability. It's a big reason why the LR4 weighs nearly 3 tons, resulting in certain compromises in the areas of on-pavement maneuverability, performance and fuel economy.
As such, there are a number of outstanding three-row crossovers that you might find just as luxurious and better everyday on-pavement companions. The Mercedes-Benz GL-Class is perhaps its closest competitor and comes closest to the LR4 in terms of third-row space, but it is more expensive. The Acura MDX and Infiniti QX60 are smaller and have more restrictive third rows, but are loaded with technology and are comparative bargains in this class.
If you are mainly interested in the LR4 for its rugged credentials, alternatives include the Lexus GX 460 and Land Rover's own Range Rover Sport, which is better on-road but still capable of venturing off the beaten path. Just don't expect the same sort of passenger space. None of these, however, blend luxury, practicality and hard-core trail capability quite as well as the 2015 Land Rover LR4.
Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
The 2015 Land Rover LR4 is a midsize luxury SUV offered in three trims: base, HSE and HSE Lux. Five-passenger seating is standard, but third-row seats are available.
There's an extensive list of standard features for the 2015 LR4: 19-inch alloy wheels, an adaptive air suspension, front and rear foglights, automatic wipers, side steps, heated exterior mirrors, a power front sunroof, fixed rear "Alpine" sunroof, rear privacy glass and rear parking sensors. Moving inside, you'll find dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, eight-way power front seats, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a rearview camera, a 7-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, and an 11-speaker Meridian audio system with a CD player, a USB/iPod interface and an auxiliary audio jack. The 7 Seat Comfort package adds rear climate controls and ducts, and a 50/50-split-folding third-row seat that includes extra map lights and an extension of the side curtain airbags.
Going to the LR4 HSE brings different 19-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlights, LED running lights, front parking sensors, power-folding mirrors, keyless ignition and entry, a navigation system, voice controls and the 7 Seat Comfort package. The Climate Comfort option package, available on both the base and HSE trims, bundles a heated windshield, heated windshield washer jets, heated front and second-row seats and a heated steering wheel.
At the top of the LR4 food chain is HSE Lux, which incorporates all of the previous equipment and adds unique 19-inch alloy wheels, upgraded leather upholstery and trim, a driver seat with power-adjustable side bolsters, driver memory settings, a power-adjustable steering wheel, interior ambient lighting, a center console cooler box and an upgraded 17-speaker Meridian surround-sound audio system (available separately on the HSE).
Options on the HSE and HSE Lux include adaptive cruise control, a rear-seat entertainment system and the Vision Assist package, which adds adaptive xenon headlights, automatic high-beam control, a 360-degree-view camera system and a blind spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert.
Options available on all models include special 20-inch wheel designs, smartphone apps and a Heavy-Duty package that includes a two-speed transfer case for the all-wheel-drive system, a locking rear differential and a full-size spare tire. The Black Design package consists of blacked-out exterior trim and black 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels.
Powertrains and Performance
Every 2015 Land Rover LR4 is powered by a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 that produces 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Also standard is an auto stop-start function that shuts down the engine to conserve fuel when you're stopped in traffic.
The EPA estimates fuel economy for the 2015 LR4 at just 16 mpg combined (15 city/19 highway), figures that are a little lower than average for this class, although generally the same as competitors' V8 models with similar horsepower. Properly equipped, the LR4 can tow a healthy 7,700 pounds.
Full-time four-wheel drive is standard for all LR4s, employing a single-speed transfer case that's more efficient in everyday driving. The LR4's traditional two-speed transfer case, which offers low-range gearing and a locking rear differential, is still available as part of the Heavy Duty option package for those who plan to partake in particularly challenging off-road driving.
Either AWD system is governed by the Terrain Response driver control that helps optimize operation via a center-console-mounted knob that allows you to toggle among four standard settings (general, grass/gravel/snow, sand and mud/ruts).
Safety
Standard safety features on the 2015 Land Rover LR4 include antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control (with rollover mitigation technology and trailer stability assist), hill-descent control, hill start assist, rear parking sensors and a rearview camera. Passive safety measures include front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags that extend to cover the third-row seat on models so equipped. A blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic alert system and a 360-degree parking camera are optional, as is adaptive cruise control that will not fully brake the LR4 to a stop but will initiate braking if the system determines closing speeds are unsafe.
Land Rover R4 2015 Feature
Interior Design and Special Features : Cool and austere, the 2015 LR4's interior is almost Scandinavian in its melding of simple design and shapes and high-quality materials. This isn't the interior you want if you like to wow the neighbors with buttons and gadgets; everything in the LR4's cabin is subdued and exceptional in its effort to avoid distraction while maximizing functionality.
Not that there's not a little bit of gee-whiz. The interior's signature feature is the polished rotary knob for the transmission that automatically rises from the center console when you first enter. It's the highlight of a center section dominated by simple round knobs to manage the infotainment and climate control, all of which support the overall minimalist cabin motif.
The LR4's touchscreen and optional navigation system work adequately, but compared with the newer electronics interfaces found in various competitors, the setup is a little dated, with slower response times and less streamlined menu structures. Nor will you find the touchscreen's total surface area on par with the almost shockingly large screens working their way into luxury vehicles.
For most, one of the LR4's prime interior treats will be the exceptionally upright position of the front seats. You sit regally upright without the need to extend your legs forward, and it highlights the outstanding headroom provided by the LR4's tall roof line, as well as the good sight lines through the upright windshield and large side windows, including novel rear "Alpine roof" skylights that bring in more daylight for those in the backseats.
Folding the adult-friendly third-row seat takes a little practice to deploy or stow quickly, but once down, there's a spacious 42 cubic feet left behind. Folding both rear rows down yields a generous 90 cubic feet, while there is a typically small 10 cubic feet with all rows in place. Whether for cargo or passengers, selecting the "Access" ride height drops the body down for easier loading and entry.

VW's smash hit auto, the Jetta comes in 14 styles, including different adaptations of the GLI, SEL, SE, TDI, S and Base. I drove a SE with Connectivity and Sunroof bundles. New during the current year is a multilink back suspension, and SE and SEL forms get another turbocharged, 1.8-liter four-barrel motor, supplanting the prior non-turbo, 2.5-liter five-chamber. This motor likewise groups with another electric force guiding framework. Select trim levels get VW's Car-Net framework, and upper trim levels advantage from another reinforcement cam this year.
Outside & Styling
The Jetta SE that landed for me to test-commute looked like pretty much every other vehicle out there, with no genuine recognizing attributes notwithstanding what VW calls an "affirmed "tornado" character line" running down the side of the vehicle."
The one special case was my test auto's adoration it-or-scorn it Toffee Brown Metallic outside paint shading. When I touched base to pick my 11-year-old little girl up from school, she said, "I adore how cool the sparkly shading of this auto is!" The following pickup circle was through the center school for my 13-year-old girl, who in average teenager manner, without welcome me initially, shouted, "Well, this current auto's revolting."
Also, the remark from my spouse was, "This is the auto my bookkeeper would purchase. This is the auto my bookkeeper would need me to purchase. That's all anyone needs to know."
How It Drives
The 2014 Jetta I drove had a 1.8-liter, turbocharged four-chamber motor that gets an EPA-evaluated 25/36/29 mpg city/interstate/joined with a programmed transmission. This is somewhat not exactly both the Hyundai Elantra and the Honda Civic, which get an EPA-assessed 32 and 33 mpg joined, separately.
While the turbocharged motor could doubtlessly be depicted as fun, it was difficult to quicken without the turbo kick tossing my head once again into the head limitation. That is incredible when you need that zippy feeling, however a bit of irritating when motoring around town or in unpredictable movement. Braking and cornering both felt sure and secure.
I was struck by the amount of wind clamor penetrated the lodge amid parkway drives. The Jetta SE would most likely advantage from some extra clamor damping.
Inside
In the 2014 SE, I was perplexed by an occasionally baffling blend of advanced courtesies riding one next to the other with expense sparing alternate ways. My test auto had Bluetooth sound and keyless access with push-catch begin as a component of the Connectivity Package, yet I needed to physically work the headlights. Warmed front seats were likewise included in the auto, yet the driver's seat was physically movable forward and back, however with force customizable lean back. As we say in our family, "Not bizarre, just distinctive." OK, possibly its unusual.
In advance, the cupholders were not extremely useful. It appears Volkswagen tried them with just a metal or ceramic travel container; the cupholders' prongs grasp paper espresso mugs much too hard, making it difficult to get your espresso out. I needed to squirm a little thusly (without spilling through the beverage gush), then squirm somewhat back the other way, shimmying my glass out of the holder creep by inch for each … single … taste. Possibly this is VW's method for driving me to swear off paper espresso mugs for something all the more earth cordial?
Another irritation for me amid my day by day drives was that the most minimal setting on the warmth and aerating and cooling framework blew an abundant excess air. I needed to deal with my in-auto Beyoncé hair fan by shutting and repositioning a few of the air vents.
In the back, the children relaxed with an amazing 38.1 inches of secondary lounge legroom. In examination, the Honda Civic has 36.2 inches and the Hyundai Elantra an inadequate 33.1 inches. My children cherished how simple the safety belts were to haul out and clasp, and with 53.6 inches of shoulder room in the rearward sitting arrangement, each of the three of my girls (ages 9, 11 and 13) figured out how to press in fine and dandy without a lot of grumbling.
A different lock/open catch on the back of the middle support was extremely useful for my family, as well, permitting my more seasoned children to effortlessly open the auto to move out in the carpool path.
Ergonomics & Electronics
I admired the inside control board's straightforward outline, with clear, exact, consistent arrangement for all the catches and dials.
The Bluetooth telephone framework reconnects effectively all alone, and the introductory blending was practically confounding in its effortlessness. I continued sitting tight for the auto to issue me a matching code, whining with it again and again, before I understood my telephone had effectively combined all alone without the data of a code.
Load & Storage
The 15.5 cubic feet of trunk space in the Jetta was all that anyone could need for my gang. The genuine litmus test every year is whether an auto can suit the enormous tri-fold, froth science-reasonable presentation, this year on "Canine Colorology: Can Dogs See in Color?" It fit in the Jetta fine and dandy, with space to extra. The Elantra has 14.8 cubic feet and the Civic just 12.5 cubic feet of load space.
A 60/40-part collapsing secondary lounge in the Jetta builds load space significantly and adds to the auto's pulling adaptability. There's additionally a go through behind the middle armrest, in addition to discharges that can crease the seat specifically from the freight region.
Security
While the Jetta has performed outstandingly in the past in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's accident tests, the 2014 adaptation gets a rating of good in all tests however one: the Institute's most up to date test, a little cover frontal accident test, where it was appraised peripheral (on a size of good, adequate, minimal and poor). The Jetta has additionally been accident tried by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, from which it got a general rating of five out of five stars. My test vehicle was not outfitted with a reinforcement cam, but rather one is standard on higher trim levels.
All Jettas incorporate VW's Intelligent Crash Response System. This framework will open all the entryways, turn on the risk lights and kill the fuel pump in the case of a crash that conveys an airbag. The Jetta doesn't offer propelled wellbeing frameworks like crash cautioning, blind side checking or path flight cautioning.
